Half Time: 3 - 1 / Full Time: 5 - 3 1st Half Goals: 2nd Half Goals: Chelmsford started the game well with some good passing, Becky Alltree, making use of the raised wall effectively. Goal keeper, Katy Roberts, produced some great saves during this match to keep her side in with a chance of victory. Chloe Rogers struck Chelmsford's first goal from the corner post on the right wing. The International Hockey Federation official in the press box commented that it was "Nearly impossible" to score from that position. The Chelmer Park side lead for around 7 minutes before a dubious penalty corner was awarded to Kampong. The Dutch leveled the score and started to turn up the pressure, with Marieke Dijkstra producing a reverse stick lift for 2 - 1. Katy Roberts produced plenty of good stops during this period with the ball being cleared off the line on one occasion, but Belle Van Meer got through for 3 - 1 just before half-time. The second half started with a Kampong goal from a penalty corner, just after Lynn Bollington rescued Chelmsford with another clearance off the line. 24 minutes and Chloe Rogers produced an excellent pass at speed through into the defensive circle where Lynn Bollington got the deflection up into the top of the goal for an impressive 4 - 2 score line. Kampong made it 5 - 2 from another penalty corner, then Lisa Wooding was able to shoot home from the top of the circle for 5 - 3. This kept hopes alive that the Essex side could stage a come back when they got their first penalty corner of the game on 36 minutes. They were unable to make anything of this chance or the second penalty corner. Before the end Katy Roberts was taken off to provide an extra out-field player, but it wasn't enough to turn the game. Chelmsford produced a much better performance than their previous two matches in this tournament, but the Dutch side showed their class and held much more of the ball procession through out. They also took their chances on penalty corners. The Essex side now need to beat Pool A bottom side, HC Weiner Noudorf, to avoid relegation from the Champions Cup for English Clubs. |
